What we offer:
A.N.G.E.L., Inc: is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that was started in
2000. Jennifer Larson from Spring Green, WI, is the President. A.N.G.E.L. Inc. stands for Autism Network through Guidance, Education
& Life. A.N.G.E.L. offers a lot of
services to WI families, some are mentioned below. We are all volunteers, there are no paid positions. We are all parents of autistic children trying to help others, your participation would be much appreciated!
Support Group Meetings and Conferences: where parents, teachers, care givers or anyone
affected by someone on the autism spectrum can come and share their stories and
know they are not alone. We have speakers
come in and lots of resources available. Sharing is caring!
Social Events: We
do a Date Night or Day Out for the
parents and roller skating for the
whole family. We try to get the whole
family involved because the divorce rate
in special needs families is 80% so
it is important to create opportunities to do things together.
Fundraisers: to
raise funds for grants, A.N.G.E.L. Inc. gives to children affected by autism. Some of the events we host are:
Indoor Walk for Autism
Fill the Boot for Autism
Rock 4 Autism - Beatles Tribute Concert
Shane's Bowl - Bowling for the whole family and friends!
Golf outings
Cruise 4 Autism
(Please see events page for a complete listing with dates and times)
Grants: A.N.G.E.L., Inc.
gives grants to WI families with children affected by autism for needed
therapies and treatment not otherwise covered by insurance. We feel parents know their children best so
we believe in treatment of choice.
For example: You may
have a non verbal child and want
extra speech therapy. Or a child my have sensory issues and occupational therapy would help. Some children
have a lot of issues with their immune
system or dietary problems and
you may choice a grant for biomedical services.
A.N.G.E.L., Inc. then sends a grant to the provider of your choice and
you are notified if your grant was approved or denied. In 2007 ANGEL granted
close to $57,000.00 to 130 families. We hope to help even more families in 2008.
Biggest Challenge: is not having enough funds for all
the grants A.N.G.E.L., Inc. receives. Donations
can be made directly at angelautismnetwork.org OR you could donate items for raffles done at A.N.G.E.L., Inc. events or volunteer your time at an event. Ask your family, friends and co
workers to donate. Together we can
make a difference in the lives of these children.
Autism is a complex brain disorder that affects communication, social interaction, behavior
and learning. Autism affects 1 in 150 children. Males are four times more likely to have
autism than females.
It is a Spectrum
disorder so some are mild while
others are severe.
Early Intervention is very important. Often time’s parents get
the run around from pediatricians and other professionals when it comes to concerns
they have about their child. It takes
months and years to get proper diagnoses and services. Go
with your gut if you think something is wrong get a second opinion.
ABA Applied Behavior
Analysis is a therapy proven to help our children and right now there is a 2 year waiting list. Our children do not have time to wait, they
need this therapy NOW! What is happening
is there is a generation of children are entering the school systems that have not
had this vital therapy and the
schools and teachers are still learning how to handle these kids. Teachers and everyone that come in contact
with our children need to be trained
about autism and understanding their behaviors. Sometimes behaviors are their only way of
communicating. Knowledge is power and
A.N.G.E.L., Inc. strives to educate everyone involved.
All children are
different and what works for one may not work for another. Just never give up because there is so much
hope for our kids. They are very smart,
but locked in this world of autism and we have to get them out. With faith,
hope, love and a lot of patience these children can make huge gains in
life. Autism is treatable. Please help us, help them~
Thank you for visiting!
